William T. Lavelle, Esq.
William T. LaVelle was born in Hauppauge, New York. He
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts of the State University of New
York at Binghamton. He studied law at the University of San
Diego and received a Juris Doctorate in 1989. He is admitted to
practice law in the States of New York and California, and he is
also admitted to practice in the Federal Courts for the Eastern
and Southern Districts of New York. Mr. LaVelle is a member of
the Suffolk County Bar Association.
Mr. LaVelle has been practicing law in the State of New York for
more than twenty years. He spent eight years in the Brooklyn
District Attorney’s Office, Narcotics Division, where he
achieved an impressive record of convictions. He subsequently
entered into private practice using his knowledge and experience
from the District Attorney’s Office to successfully defend the
accused in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Mr. LaVelle established the Law Offices of William T. LaVelle in
1995. His practice has been concentrated in criminal and
traffic law, real property law, ERISA collections, commercial
transactions and personal injury.
In 2010, Mr. LaVelle and his long-time associate, Alicia M.
Menechino, formed a partnership, LaVelle & Menechino Law Office,
LLP, where Mr. LaVelle retains the position of Managing Partner.
Mr. LaVelle is very
active in his community. He is currently a member of the Board
of Education for the Patchogue-Medford School District and has
held that position since 2007.
He also volunteers as a soccer coach and was pivotal in starting
a Golf Mentoring program at Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community
Services, Inc. He was named Patchogue Medford Youth & Community
Services “Man of the Year” in 2006
Mr. LaVelle continues to be an active and vital part of his
social and legal community.
Alicia M. Menechino, Esq.
Alicia M. Menechino was born in Islip, New York and graduated
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New
York at Stony Brook in 1996. In 1999, Ms. Menechino received a
Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law with a
special certificate in Environmental Law. While in law school,
she served as a Case Note and Comment Editor on the Pace
Environmental Law Review.
Ms. Menechino was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2000 and
the United State District Court in the Eastern District of New
York in 2003. She is a member of the Suffolk County Bar
Ms. Menechino interned with the New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation, Region 1, through law school and
became employed there as a staff attorney upon graduating law
school. She commenced employment with Mr. LaVelle in 2001 and
they formed a partnership in 2010, LaVelle & Menechino Law
Ms. Menechino acts of counsel to the Islip Chamber of Commerce
and is an active volunteer for Islip Chamber events. She
specializes in civil litigation, ERISA collections, and
landlord/tenant law, as well as all other fields of general
